You could really call Alfred Peet the father of artisan coffee in America. When he first started serving top-notch cups in joe in the 1960s, the move was unprecedented. So it’s meaningful that the founders of Greenberry’s Coffee Co., Roxanne and Sean Simmons, considered Peet their personal friend and mentor. They learned the ins and outs of the trade from Peet before branching out into their own artisan coffee business, which now has outposts around the country and the world.
One of them is right here in McLean on Redmond Drive. Stop in for your morning cup of java and a bite to eat if you want to experience the high quality of the coffee and cuisine at Greenberry’s. Opt for a simple cup of black coffee or order a specialty espresso drink, and then pair it with something sweet or savory. Your options range from flaky pastries stuffed with scrambled eggs and veggies to freshly baked chocolate chip cookies and scones.
